Quick answer: Choose Vuplex WebView for your finished application’s platform. Windows/macOS, Android, iOS, WebGL and visionOS use separate packages. A desktop purchase does not automatically cover mobile or WebGL deployment.

What is Vuplex WebView for Unity?
Vuplex provides tools for embedding web content inside Unity applications. Use this guide to evaluate the package for your target platform, then check the official developer documentation for your required browser features.
Which Vuplex package do you need?
01 · Desktop
Windows or macOS build?
Evaluate the desktop package.
02 · WebGL
Browser-based build?
Check 2D and iframe limitations first.
03 · Mobile / XR
Device build?
Match the package to its operating system.
| Deployment target | Package to investigate |
|---|---|
| Windows or macOS app | 3D WebView for Windows and macOS |
| Android app or standalone Android-based XR build | Compare the Android packages for the exact device |
| iOS app | 3D WebView for iOS |
| Unity WebGL build in a browser | 2D WebView for WebGL |
| visionOS app | 3D WebView for visionOS |
Choose for the device running your final build, not just the computer used to develop it. Vuplex explains that platform packages share an API and should use matching minor versions when combined. See its platform and package requirements.
Windows and macOS: evaluate the desktop package
Building a desktop client application with an embedded dashboard, web panel or HTML interface? Start by checking 3D WebView for Windows and macOS against your requirements.
Before purchase, verify your Unity version, operating-system requirements, required browser features and license needs on the current listing. Test your exact content through the publisher’s available evaluation options or ask support about uncertain requirements.

WebGL: check the limitations before buying
2D WebView for WebGL uses an iframe-based approach. It displays web content in 2D screen space, not on a 3D texture. Websites that block iframe embedding may not load, and cross-domain restrictions limit browser-control methods.
If you need web content on a 3D object, this WebGL package does not meet that requirement. Read the official limitations and publisher demo before choosing.

Android and XR: identify the actual device
An XR project is not a single deployment platform. Establish whether the application runs on a desktop computer or on a standalone Android-based headset. For Android, compare the original and Gecko editions using the publisher’s Android comparison; do not assume the desktop package covers the final device.
Five checks before you buy
1. Deployment: Write down every operating system or device your finished application must support.
2. Content: Identify the exact URL or HTML interface you need to embed, including any sign-in or video requirements.
3. Interaction: List the required inputs and browser features. Check each against the platform documentation.
4. Evaluation: Use the publisher’s demo or available trial to check your requirement. A demonstration of a different website or device is not proof that yours will work.
5. Cost and licensing: Account for each required package, your team’s license needs, and the current checkout terms. Compare purchase channels if you need multiple packages.
Common questions about Vuplex WebView
Does one purchase cover every platform?
No. Vuplex documents separate platform packages. Check which ones your build and development setup need.
Can WebGL display a website on a 3D surface?
Vuplex’s WebGL package supports 2D screen space, not rendering web content to a 3D texture.
Why does WebGL behave differently in the Unity Editor?
The WebGL package uses a mock implementation in the Editor by default. Vuplex documents adding the Windows/macOS package for real web rendering in the Editor.
Is this a free Unity WebView download?
The purchase buttons lead to paid Asset Store packages. Check the publisher’s current evaluation options before committing.
When should I skip an embedded browser?
If opening the user’s external browser fully meets your requirement, evaluate that simpler approach first. Resolve unsupported requirements before paying for a package.
Make the purchase match your project
Choose the package only after confirming platform fit and limitations. A clear requirement is a better reason to buy than a long feature list.
